Oscar Nominations (2018 films) and Prediction Results

Here are the Oscar nominations (complete list) for qualifying 2018 films with results of my predictions (got about 73% right for all categories).

The Favourite and Roma both got 10 nominations with A Star Is Born and Vice acquiring 8 total nods with Black Panther honored with 7. BlacKkKlansman received 6 while  Bohemian Rhapsody and Green Book got 5. First Man and Mary Poppins Returns each got 4 nominations.

The annual Academy Award ceremony will be televised live on Sunday, February 24th beginning at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.  See www.oscars.org for more information.

Film

Black Panther
BlacKkKlansman
Bohemian Rhapsody
The Favourite
Green Book
Roma
A Star Is Born
Vice

I picked If Beale Street Could Talk, but the ending list was eight. Would have loved to see Mary Poppins Returns get in. Black Panther becomes the first superhero film nominated in this category and Roman is the first streaming movie to be nominated.

Actress

Yalitza Aparicio, Roma
Glenn Close, The Wife
Olivia Colman, The Favourite
Lady Gaga, A Star Is Born
Melissa McCarthy, Can You Ever Forgive Me?

Almost for my picks Emily Blunt, Mary Poppins Returns and Rosamund Pike, A Private War. McCarthy and Aparicio make it. Lady Gage joins Mary J. Blige as artists nominated for Actress and Original Song in the same year.

Actor

Christian Bale, Vice
Bradley Cooper, A Star Is Born
Willem Dafoe, At Eternity’s Gate
Rami Malek, Bohemian Rhapsody
Viggo Mortensen, Green Book

My pick John David Washington, BlacKkKlansman missed this cut – honorable mention Dafoe gets in instead.

Supporting Actress

Amy Adams, Vice
Marina de Tavira, Roma

Supporting Actor

Mahershala Ali, Green Book
Adam Driver, BlacKkKlansman
Sam Elliott, A Star Is Born
Richard E. Grant, Can You Ever Forgive Me?
