ClearPlay

Need an easy way to censor some content instead of trying to screen movies yourself before young/susceptible audiences? ClearPlay is a movie filtering experience (totally legal) that’s now offering a free trial period of 30 days. Users need to enter their name, phone number, and a credit card number then are charged $7.99 monthly ($2.99 for the 2nd month after your $5 discount) if users don’t cancel.

Users install the service using a computer (Google Chrome browser only) and exclusively through Amazon’s Prime video service (they initially offered this service through Google Play). Users can view on their TV from Chromecast or Apple Air Play. Check out their movie list here.

After the user enters filtering options, this service automatically mutes or skips unwanted content. It does not work with all films. User can also purchase a ClearPlay DVD/Bluray player that has built-in Wifi.

The Movie Battles are a fun diversion though, as you can see, sometimes the choices aren’t really similar so choices are based on demographics, which hints at just an information grab here. The previous match-up (shown on the bottom right) was done fairly well.

UPDATES: find out how to use ClearPlay with Netflix here: https://try.clearplay.com/announcement/
